We're continuing our tour of downtown Tulsa for healthy lunch dishes. We will be going to different restaurants within walking distance of our Deco District, and choosing the healthiest options at each! We've already hit up the Deco Deli and Boston Avenue Grill and posted our favorite options.
This week, we're featuring Foolish Things Coffee Company. The just celebrated their 5th birthday and released their fall menu so it's a great time to check them out. We already love them for their coffee and breakfast options but they serve up delicious lunch too!
Healthy Lunch Options at Foolish Coffee
Here are our top 3 choices for lunch breaks
1. Greek Salad - This is the salad choice with the most vegetables. It comes with black olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions piled on a bed of mixed greens. They make their own cucumber yogurt dressing (ask for it on the side) to give it a great Greek flavor. You can add chicken (which they first bake and then grill, using a combination of olive oil, Worcestershire sauce and seasonings) for an extra protein punch. (Note: The chicken is not Whole 30 approved if you are following this program.)
2. Seasonal Brussels Sprouts Salad - This fella is just around in the fall, and is also easily modified to your tastes. The base is composed of roasted brussels sprouts with bacon, raisins and parmesan cheese added. The balsamic vinaigrette gives it a light and crisp finish. Ask for no bacon or cheese and you've got a great vegan option, as well as a Whole 30 approved dish.
3. Veggie Sandwich - We love that their white bread is homemade. If you're in the mood for a sandwich, this is a great choice since they pile the veggies high. You can ask for hummus and veggies on the side or fruit.
4. Drink Options - Black coffee and iced green tea are our favorite things to order here. They make a delicious variety of other coffee and espresso drinks but they are going to be piled high with sugar. We love that they use a local, organic dairy farmer for their milk though so if you did want a latte, we'd support that decision (no added syrups though)!
